Sempill Heritage

In 1489 Sir John Sempill was raised to the peerage as Lord Sempill, and he built the collegiate church at Lochwinnoch, where his effigy lies.
The first Lord fell at Flodden in 1513 with so many of Scotland's nobility. Later chiefs held office at court and in the west country, and the family kept its place through the long turns of Scottish history. The title continues to this day, and the chief of the clan is the Lord Sempill.
