About the Scott Clan Tartan
The Scottish Register of Tartans records Scott as a Clan/Family tartan. The Scott name is worn in several setts, best known in a bold red Scott and in the cooler green Scott hunting tartan, both worn in ancient and modern shades.
Clan Scott is one of the great clans of the Scottish Borders, its chief the Duke of Buccleuch, whose seat is Bowhill House. The plant badge is the blaeberry, the war cry "A Bellendaine!", and the motto simply Amo, "I love" — making Scott tartan especially meaningful for family pride and Scottish ancestry gifts.

Scott Heritage
Sir Richard Scott was made ranger of Ettrick Forest, which brought him the lands of Rankilburn, and his house at Buccleuch gave the chiefly line its name. His son Sir Michael, second Laird of Buccleuch, stood for Robert the Bruce and distinguished himself at Halidon Hill in 1333, one of the few to come away from that field. From these beginnings the Scotts grew into one of the most powerful families of the Border.
Like the other riding clans they knew long feud, above all with the Kerrs. Their most famous exploit came in 1596, when Walter Scott of Buccleuch, called Bold Buccleuch, broke into Carlisle Castle by night and carried off the prisoner Kinmont Willie Armstrong in a raid that rang through both kingdoms. Two centuries later Sir Walter Scott of Abbotsford, kin of the house, gave the world the novels and ballads that made the Border country famous.
