About the Rollo Clan Tartan

The Scottish Register of Tartans records Rollo as a Clan/Family tartan. The Rollo sett is a handsome design of teal and green crossed with black and lifted by fine lines, a cool and dignified pattern, worn in both ancient and modern shades.

Clan Rollo is a Scottish clan of Perthshire whose chief is the Lord Rollo, with the family lands at Duncrub near Dunning. The name is of Norman descent, and the motto La Fortune Passe Partout, "fortune passes everywhere," makes Rollo tartan especially meaningful for family pride and Scottish ancestry gifts.

Rollo Tartan Pattern and Colours

This collection draws on a cool ground of teal and green crossed with black and lifted by a soft line — dignified colours of the Perthshire country, its farmland lying under the Ochil Hills.

Rollo Teal Green Blue Black

Rollo Heritage

The Rollos are of Norman descent, and family tradition connects them with the great Rollo, first Duke of Normandy, of the Norse settlers of that country. The family came to Scotland in the twelfth century, and John Rollo, a clerk in the service of King David II, received the lands of Duncrub in Perthshire in 1380 — lands the family have held ever since.

The Rollos were loyal to the Stuart cause: Sir Andrew Rollo was created Lord Rollo of Duncrub in the seventeenth century, and later lords came out in the Jacobite risings, for which the family suffered. Duncrub lies under the Ochil Hills near Dunning, and the chief of the name is the Lord Rollo.
